Max Wichmer
Max Wichmer, Vice President, Vertical Division
Max grew up in the concrete industry, learning the trade at a young age while working alongside his dad on driveways and foundations. Those early experiences instilled in him a deep respect for hard work, quality craftsmanship, and the people who bring projects to life. Driven by a passion for learning, he earned a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and went on to complete a Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He began his career in Chicago high-rise construction while earning his PE license. Over the years, Max has gained hands-on experience in every facet of the concrete business, including project management, estimating, preconstruction, sequencing, scheduling, and formwork engineering. His portfolio spans a wide range of sectors—from commercial high-rise and tilt-up construction to heavy industrial, healthcare, stadium, and educational projects. His work has contributed to shaping skylines throughout the Midwest and across major markets in Florida and Georgia. These diverse experiences have strengthened Max’s belief that every successful project begins with a strong, unified team. He values the relationships he has built throughout his career and has a clear understanding of what it takes to cultivate teams grounded in shared values—the same values that define the culture at Carr and Sons and drive the company’s continued success.
